Chapter 5, “Planning: The Foundation of Successful Management,” defines short-term goals as those which usually take 12 months or less than one year to accomplish. Operational goal is the synonym for short-term goal. Time periods longer than one year are considered long-term and are called strategic goals.  Psychologists tell us that our personalities help determine whether we prefer creating and working toward strategic or operational goals.  As business majors we are expected not only to be able to do both types, but also to have the wisdom to recognize which type is best in different situations.

Please write an original post (thread) where you state which type of goal you prefer and why. Then give at least one specific strategy that you are willing to employ to help yourself improve your abilities with the type of goal setting that is not your preference.
