Shopping Visiting Assignment
Shelf space is the battle ground of traditional retailing. Alone there are 30,000 lines introduced yearly in conventional grocery stores. How do consumers perceive products? How do you?
This assignment is based on product strategies and on product life cycle(s). The four stages of the product life cycle are: introduction, development, maturity and decline.
You are to visit two retailers (you may not work for this retailer(s). Retailer locations and/or categories are of you own choosing. As you visit the retailer you are to examine 10 products (10 per store, 20 total). Look to see what their stage is in the product life cycle. Who are the purchasers? (Demo) and do you fit in as a purchaser?
When you have completed your visit, I wish for a three paragraph conclusion of your observation/explanation of this assignment. Paragraphs can include any personal comments you wish to include.
